Today we’re clarifying what healing means to us.
If we asked Western culture to define healing, it might say: function as much as possible. Look perfect, stay available, do more, more, more. Make it look easy. Don’t need anybody.
Insurance companies might say: list your symptoms, follow a treatment plan, measure your progress. Keep it pushing.
If we’re not intentional, we’ll follow someone else’s idea of how our growth should look. Growth happens in the big moments and the small. Both are sacred. Growth is not always pretty, and it’s never perfect.
Examples of how healing could sneak up on you:
Your inner voice sounds like kindness during a hard moment (when previously, it would’ve sounded like a bully).
Your body is at ease more often than now. Autopilot slowly shifts out of tension and gripping.
You know your daily choices are rooted in YOUR values.
You begin to trust relationships. Community is rich and meaningful—in a way that makes sense to you.
Whether you’re starting therapy or doing another form of growth work, what is your definition of healing?
Rooting for you!
